11 липня в Нью-Йорку в Девід Геффен залі Лінкольн-центра відбулася почесна церемонія нагородження зірок хіп-хоп світу Queen Latifah, Міссі Еліот, N-Соль-Pepa, і Lil ‘Kim.

Шоу здійснювалось не тільки для глядачів в залі, але і для 3 млн телеглядачів. В цьому році шоу було показано в прямому ефірі в перший раз на каналі VH1, зробивши великі рейтинги.

Дизайн освітлення розробив Джон Куснер  з нової дизайнерської фірми 22 Degrees.
